The TV challenge

So, if you are a regular reader, you will undoubtedly know that this fall my TV died on me in a frenzied Technicolor spectacle. Since then, I've been TVless. That's right. Nada, zip, zilch... ok that's not entirely true... When I was in Sudbury at X-mas, I watched an Arsenal and Liverpool game (soccer for those of you who don't know) and a few episodes of Jamie Oliver... but other than that, total nothingness...
It's been quite the challenge on many levels, but on the whole, it's been more than a positive experience. I do all the things I THOUGHT I never had time for....

So, here is my challenge to you, my readers... if there are any you... I challenge you to four weeks of NO TV!... nothing... unplug your tube and stick it in the closet. Call up Videotron and put your cable subscription on hold.
Can you do it? Let me know.

One of the main reasons I never replaced my TV, when it went ape-shit on me, was because of my trip to Thailand. Save every penny I told myself... and now that it's been two months (twice the time of my challenge), I'm not so sure that upon my return from the Land of 1000 smiles, I will replace the TV. I've had offers from people to lend me TVs and I refused. If I do get a new TV, it won't be before mid to late April and by then, it's practically summer. It's outdoors time, so should I even bother until the fall?
What about being able to watch movies? Well so far, I've been able to watch movies (rather uncomfortably) at my desk on my little Mac mini and my 17" monitor... but I think that before I buy a new TV, my plan will be to buy a 24" i Mac.... that way I can watch movies from my couch and I'll have a kick ass Dual core computer so I can finally do my 3D stuff with a bit more ease.

So yeah, do the challenge.... come-on. I dare ya! Does it really matter to your existence what Jack Bauer does on 24? Anyway, you'll be able to rent in 6 months.

good luck and may the force be with you.

Anonyme a dit...

Chris, there's no way i'm giving out my TV-fun-time, it's the only thing that keeps me sane (that and music). When there's a power outrage I feel so useless. I know, I know i'm addicted. But hey, I admit it right? so i'm half-forgiven :)
