Friday night was fucking amazing...
Two bands, one venue.... Pawa Up First and Karkwa @ Club Soda...the most amazing show of the year. Let me preface this by saying that this year has been pretty show heavy (10 to 12), by my standards at least... c'mon, I'm getting old ;-) Cat Empire, Tomas Jensen, Grupo Fantasma, Chango Family and a bunch of other really good ones. However, the show that I saw Friday night was just out of this world.

It's real hard for me to really describe their sounds as I was pretty affected that evening. So here's the aural impression I got for the whole evening... Think Radiohead, crossed with the Cinematic Orchestra crossed with elements of Coldplay (I guess it was the piano effect) and then cross all that with a psychedelic intensity only seen in great bands like the Doors. Karkwa were especially intense in their psychedelicness. A real wall of sound that smacks you upside the head. I'm definitely going to be seeing them again soon. I am shooting myself for not having brought my camera.
