Couchsurfing pt.3

OK, my Hungarian couchsurfer is in a bit of a jam. This morning, we discover that couchsurfing.com is no more. Server and back-up problems caused them to shut down the site permanently as they lost all their data. Matayas was relying on the site to couchsurf all the way to Calgary and then to Alaska. Shit out of luck as they say. He's a member of another site called hospitalityclub.org. Same principal, but more Eurocentric. Hope it works out for him.

As for couchsurfing.com , that really sucks. I was supposed to host another person from Germany next week, but we never finalized things. I was also hoping to use the site to crash all around Europe in the near future. Oh well. Youth Hostels it is. Couchsurfing was a brilliant idea and although they say they are shutting down for good, I really hope that they manage to get it up and running again. It was such a beautiful example of generosity and trust which is so no-existent in this day and age. I love you guys and what you stand for. I wish you the best.
